CONTEMPORARY INDIA MOVIES RETROSPECTIVE / MOSTRA O CINEMA INDIANO CONTEMPORÂNEO

The Contemporary India Movies Retrospective will take place no Brazil, in Caixa Cultural Cultural Centre, in Rio de Janeiro City. The retrospective will happen this August from the10th till the 23rd and the main purpose is to spread the Indian culture in our country offering to the Brazilian public the opportunity of get in touch with some great contemporary films made in India with non-charged screenings from the big hits of Bollywood till remarkable art movies from  the past fifteen years. The final list of films to be shown will be revealed soon. We can already confirm the screenings of films by Mrinal Sen, Shyam Benegal, Adoor Gopalakrishnan and Mani Ratnam. Besides the exhibitions, we will promote debates in order to discuss the Indian production and its increasing impact in the world nowadays. The Indian Embassy in Brazil is supporting the event.

A mostra “O Cinema Indiano Contemporâneo” será realizada na Caixa Cultural do Rio de Janeiro, durante o período de 10 a 23 agosto deste ano. O objetivo principal é difundir a cultura indiana em nosso país dando ao público brasileiro a oportunidade de ter o contato com o melhor da cinematografia indiana nos ultimos 15 anos, através de exibicões gratuitas, que abrangem desde sucessos de Bollywood a filmes de arte que marcaram história. A lista de filmes está sendo fechada e será divulgada em breve. Filmes de diretores como Mrinal Sen, Shyam Benegal, Adoor Gopalakrishnan e Mani Ratnam já estão confirmados. Além das exibições, haverão debates com o intuito de pensar a produção indiana e o seu impacto hoje no mundo. A Embaixada da India no Brasil está apoiando o evento.
